2023 Mill Creek Upland
Inky darkness to the rim of the glass, the wine opens with a lovely, intensely vivid nose of dark black fruits, blackberry, and ripe plum, layered with tobacco leaves, forest mushroom, leather, and wet stone. Additional notes of truffle, wood spice, hazelnut, and fir-like freshness lend complexity and nuance to this classic mountain-grown wine. The palate is powerful and tightly wound at first, with firm tannins and vibrant acidity asserting themselves immediately before evolving into a broad, smooth, and deeply satisfying mouthfeel. Dense black fruit, dark cherry, graphite, and tart blackberry flavors coat the palate, accented by hints of cedar, baking spice, and white pepper. The finish is long, mineral-driven, and remarkably persistent, leaving a lasting impression of freshness, structure, and energy. A classic expression of Mill Creek Upland with tremendous potential for the cellar.

Mouth filling and well structured, the wine shows power with grippy tannins and savory notes of thyme, leather, and graphite persisting through followed by a long, dry, and fruit-driven finish.
